Reporting Accountant
About the job
Role Purpose:
The role will be jointly responsible for all financial reporting activity within Global Solutions Finance. The role will report to the Head of Financial Reporting within Global Solutions Finance.
The Reporting Accountant will have the following main 3 areas of accountability:
Joint responsibility for month-end closure including all accruals, revenue and cost bookings and balance sheet positions. Work closely with the in-country Egypt centres of excellence to deliver an efficient, accurate and timely close process.
Ensure effective balance sheet controls and processes to maintain the highest standards of Financial Control, in adherence with all local and international required accounting standards.
Responsible for leading on monthly performance reporting to key GS Stakeholders as well as the Majid Al Futtaim Group.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the role holder will provide visible and clear in-country presence for the GS Finance Team, acting as a point of contact and true business partner to the Egypt GS team.
Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Key areas of focus will include the following:
Joint responsibility for month-end closure including all accruals, revenue and cost bookings and balance sheet positions. Work closely with the in-country Egypt centres of excellence to deliver an efficient, accurate and timely close process.
Ensure accurate, timely booking of all revenue and cost bookings for Global Solutions across the Egypt, UAE and India entities (plus other entities as established)
Work closely with the in-country Egypt AP, R2R and OTC teams to leverage the scale benefits of our operations
Constantly review processes to identify and implement operational efficiencies and ensure a faster close
Ensure all system postings are completed in line with the Delegation of Authority (DOA)
Ensure effective balance sheet controls and processes to maintain the highest standards of Financial Control, in adherence with all local and international required accounting standards.
Jointly conduct monthly end-to-end reviews of all balance sheet items to ensure they are supported by adequate documentation and any adjusting items are recorded in a timely fashion.
Work closely with the Internal and External audit teams to ensure on-time sign-off of financials.
Keep up-to-date on emerging accounting issues and standards to proactively anticipate any impact upon our business
Jointly oversee and file all local tax returns (for example VAT)
Jointly oversee the preparation and filing of all Statutory Accounts.
Responsible for leading on monthly performance reporting to key GS Stakeholders as well as the Majid Al Futtaim Group.
Prepare regular, insightful monthly reporting packs and analysis for all key stakeholders
Oversee the upload of monthly results to all required systems including the interfacing of data transfer between accounting ledgers (where necessary).
Build strong relationships with all key stakeholders
In addition to the above responsibilities, the role holder will provide visible and clear in-country presence for the GS Finance Team, acting as a point of contact and true business partner to the Egypt GS team.
Job Dimension – (E.g. Revenue & Budget size, Sales Volume etc.)
The role will jointly oversee all Financial Reporting activities within Global Solutions Finance.
Personal Characteristics and Required Background:
Skillset (job specific technical skills and behavioral competencies needed)
Expert level understanding of Finance Processes
Strong month-end/close experience within a large organisation
Clear evidence of effective prioritisation and delivery against challenging timelines
Co-ordination/planning/resource allocation – ability to bring together different people with conflicting schedules/ideas and meet deadlines
Minimum experience
From 5+ years of professional experience in finance including at least 2 years of post qualification experience
Experience of operating within a large, ideally multi-national company
Experience of working with major ERP systems (SAP, Oracle)
Minimum Qualifications/education
University Degree with professional Finance Qualification (CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA, CIMA).
